History of Mill Creek United Methodist Church
Welcome to Mill Creek United Methodist Church, a beacon of faith and community in Columbia, South Carolina. Our church’s rich history is a testament to the enduring spirit and dedication of our congregation.

Early Beginnings

Mill Creek United Methodist Church was established in 1800 by a small group of devoted Christians who sought to create a place of worship and fellowship in the growing Columbia area. The original sanctuary was located where the cemetery is located today, across Garners Ferry Road from the church.

As the years passed, our congregation grew, reflecting the expanding community around us. The current sanctuary was built in 1901 with an addition built in the 1930s or 1940s and another addition built in 1952.
