Early Life and Calling

Rev. Sharon "Shay" Long, raised in Cayce, SC, felt her call to ministry during high school. Before answering this call, she dedicated many years to public safety, serving as a paramedic, firefighter, law enforcement officer, military personnel, and finally, in emergency management.

Education and Ministry Experience

Rev. Shay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Religion from Columbia College and later received her Master of Divinity from Hood Theological Seminary. She has extensive experience working in Children and Youth Ministry and community outreach.

Ministry at Mill Creek

Rev. Shay has been a cherished part of the Mill Creek community since July 1, 2011. Her diverse background and commitment to service have enriched the church and its outreach programs.

Personal Life

Shay is married to Kermit Long, and they have one daughter. In her free time, she enjoys driving her Jeep Wrangler, "Free Spirit," and raising raccoons. She is a co-founder and board member of Palmetto Wildlife Rescue and Rehab and cares for two non-releasable raccoons, Remington and Gabe.
